How to learn the 17 times table

  • Split 17 into 10 and 7: 17 × k = (10 × k) + (7 × k). For example, 17 × 7 = 70 + 49 = 119.
  • 17 is 3 less than 20, so 17 × 8 = 20 × 8 − 3 × 8 = 160 − 24 = 136.
  • The units digit of the answers repeats every ten steps: 7, 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0. If your answer ends in anything else, check it again.
